When history fits in your hand – knife handles made from Lüneburg Glockenhaus oak
There are places that tell stories the moment you step inside. In Lüneburg, the Glockenhaus is such a place: a monumental brick building from the 15th century, whose walls have witnessed centuries of salt trading, armory life, and the city's history. As a long-established Lüneburg specialist retailer, we are incredibly proud to be able to carry on a piece of this history – not in stone, but in wood.

Our roots in Lüneburg – and beyond
For three generations, our family business has been deeply rooted in Lüneburg. Our grandfather was already behind the counter here in 1957, advising customers, and some of our regular customers have been with us for decades. Quite a few travel from afar, even from Bavaria, to choose their new favorite knife from us. This proximity and loyalty are not something we take for granted, but rather the core of what we do: building trust, embodying quality, and preserving tradition.
The Bell House: Centuries of history at your fingertips
The bell tower is one of our city's most striking buildings, erected between 1482 and 1484 and firmly rooted in the city's history ever since. Originally used as an armory and granary, it was later almost relegated to a parking garage – only the dedication of the citizens saved it. Today it is a cultural center and a monument of North German Brick Gothic architecture.
We were fortunate enough to be able to use old oak wood from the bell tower for our work. From these centuries-old beams, we crafted handle scales for selected knife projects, thus giving a piece of Lüneburg history a second life: from a supporting beam in the Middle Ages to a tactile delight in the present day.
Tradition meets modernity – collaboration with Böker and Nesmuk
We are particularly proud of our collaboration with the traditional Solingen companies Böker and Nesmuk. With Nesmuk, we created an exclusive series of chef's knives with handles made from wood sourced from the Glockenhaus (bell house) in Lüneburg, available exclusively in our shop. And now, we've had the pleasure of realizing another highlight with Böker: the handle scales for the Böker BFF Packlite, crafted from oak from the Glockenhaus in Lüneburg , exclusively for us.
These projects are more than just products to us. They embody everything that is important to us: the centuries-old history of our hometown, the appreciation of materials with soul, the passion for fine craftsmanship, and the friendship with the Solingen knifemakers who masterfully combine tradition and modern manufacturing technology.
Anyone who holds a knife with handle scales made of Glockenhaus oak is not just carrying a tool, but a piece of living history. And for us, as a family business in Lüneburg, it is a particular pleasure to be able to bridge this gap between past, present, and future.
