420 HC is an optimized variant of 420 steel with a higher carbon content. The steel offers improved hardness and cutting performance while maintaining good rust resistance and ease of maintenance.
Three key characteristics of the steel: edge retention, rust resistance, and sharpenability
Edge retention: medium
★★★☆☆
The higher carbon content compared to simple 420 allows for greater hardness and better cutting performance.
Rust resistance: high
★★★★☆
The chromium content ensures good corrosion resistance.
Sharpenability: very good
★★★★★
420 HC is easy to resharpen, making it suitable for regular use.
