Linder Wanger Shard – compact outdoor knife with Nitro-X7 steel

The Linder Wanger Shard combines a compact design with an exceptionally high-performance blade. Developed by Roman Kasé, this design emphasizes function and ergonomics, making the Shard a versatile knife for EDC, outdoor use, hunting, and demanding cutting tasks. With an overall length of 17.6 cm and a weight of just 117.0 g, it offers a balanced combination of handiness and performance.

Nitro-X7 – exceptional sharpness and edge retention

The 77.05 mm long blade is made of Nitro-X7 high-performance steel, manufactured in Germany. Its particularly fine and uniform internal structure allows for a very thin blade geometry. Behind the edge bevel, the blade measures less than 0.3 mm, giving the Shard exceptionally high cutting ability; it is delivered razor-sharp right out of the box.

A specially tuned vacuum heat treatment with cryogenic nitrogen processing reduces retained austenite, thereby supporting excellent edge retention and minimal burr formation during sharpening. With a hardness of 62 to 63 HRC, the Nitro-X7 achieves high durability while remaining easy to resharpen with standard sharpening stones.

Fine geometry for versatile cutting tasks

The combination of a thin blade, high-quality steel, and a carefully executed, fully cooled grind ensures high cutting performance. This makes the Shard suitable not only for classic cutting tasks but also for intricate work and wood carving. At the same time, the full-tang construction provides the necessary stability for more demanding outdoor applications.

Ergonomic full-tang construction

The full-tang design merges the blade and handle into a consistently stable structure. The ergonomically developed handle sits securely in the hand and has been optimized over several years for function and grip.

Compact, lightweight, and versatile

With a blade thickness of 2.8 mm and a weight of only 117.0 g, the Shard remains comfortably manageable. At the same time, the combination of a full tang, high-strength Nitro-X7 steel, and a carefully tuned heat treatment ensures a robust construction. This makes the knife equally suitable for everyday EDC tasks as well as for outdoor and hunting use.
