Magnacut meets Tradition
Böker BFF Packlite – When less is definitely more.
You know the feeling: the best ideas are often the simplest. That's exactly what Lucas Burnley thought when he designed the BFF Packlite – and created a real game-changer. The US knife maker expands his successful Böker Barlow BFF series , which has made a name for itself over the years, with this feather-light knife. But with the Packlite, Burnley has taken minimalism to the extreme.
Lucas Burnley from Oregon, USA, has been working full-time as a knife maker and designer since 2003 and has made a name for himself with his unmistakable style. His knives combine clean, modern lines with tactical origins – a style he calls Post-Tactical . His designs are playful and sophisticated at the same time and often contain subtle neo-Japanese elements. Incidentally, Burnley is not just a dreamer. The man gets up at 4:45 am to design and has a clear credo: Functionality must never come at the expense of beauty. Form follows function, in short.
MagnaCut – The steel that can do it all
The full-tang construction with a drop-point blade made of powder-metallurgical CPM MagnaCut (61-62 HRC) and a stonewashed finish stands for maximum stability with excellent cutting properties. MagnaCut was developed by Dr. Larrin Thomas, a metallurgist and a knife-steel nerd in the truest sense of the word, in cooperation with Crucible and, due to a special manufacturing process, is free of chromium carbides. The result? A steel that offers an excellent balance between hardness and toughness . Or, as Böker puts it: Cut-resistant, hard, corrosion-resistant, and tough – no blade can offer more performance. This makes MagnaCut perfect for a compact EDC like the Packlite.
Skeletal and yet stable – the Post-Tactical concept
The post-tactical concept embraced by the designer is stylishly implemented in the weight-reducing recesses in the handle . What at first glance looks like pure aesthetics has a practical purpose: The knife becomes an ultralight companion without losing any stability. The elegant false edge and robust jimpings on the blade spine round off the agile character of the Packlite in both visual and functional ways.
With an overall length of 15.5 cm and a blade length of 6.5 cm , the Packlite is compact enough for your pocket, but large enough to do serious work. It comes with a snug-fitting Kydex sheath and ball chain – perfect as a neck knife or for attaching to your belt.
Your knife, your style – the variety of handle scales
Here's the absolute highlight: The BFF Packlite is available in numerous variations, and the removable handle scales can be exchanged with just a few simple steps – perfect for cleaning or customizing your knife to your own liking. The selection of handle scales is huge: From the purist, skeletonized version without scales to natural walnut wood and figured birch, to canvas Micarta in green or black, linen Micarta, jute Micarta or Richlite. G10 in various colors is also available, and if you like it really edgy, grab the all-black version with Cerakote finish.
We are particularly proud of our own oak wood handle scales from the Lüneburg Glockenhaus , which we had exclusively manufactured for the Packlite in cooperation with Böker. A regional highlight with history that is very close to our hearts as a traditional Lüneburg retailer.
Handcrafted in Solingen – Quality with Tradition
The Böker BFF Packlite is handcrafted in the Böker Solingen manufactory, with over 150 years of knife-making tradition. When you hold a Packlite in your hands, you feel this quality. Every detail is perfect, the workmanship is impeccable.
Welcome to the world of BFF Packlite, where minimalist design meets maximum dedication.
