Böker Patina Damascus Chef's Knife

The Damascus blade of this special model, limited to only 50 copies worldwide, subsequently forms a visually perceptible patina, making its belonging to the Böker Patina knife series unmistakable. Unlike the models with blades made of non-stainless monosteel, the acid treatment and the (controlled) discoloration take place here during production, as this is the only way to make the different Damascus layers visible.

The handle of this exceptional chef's knife, in the classic Solingen three-rivet design, is in no way inferior to the blade in terms of appearance and function. With its unique grain, the hand-selected, stabilized birch wood makes each knife a true unique piece. This exceptional composition is completed with brass rivets. The non-stainless premium Damascus steel, forged with 180 layers by hand by Chad Nichols from Mississippi, USA – one of the most renowned Damascus steel smiths in the knife world – is highly valued not only by various knife manufacturers worldwide, but also by numerous custom knife makers, for its fine and contrasting patterns and high everyday usability.

However, with the forging of the high-quality Damascus steel, the blade is still far from its final form and completion. In the next step, the forged split piece is further processed in our die forging shop in Solingen. After it has been heated there to a red glow, it is shaped by a two-ton drop hammer in a solid mold. This mold, consisting of an upper and lower half, is called the die. In the next step, the blade is annealed, deburred and finally calibrated.

The resulting wild damask pattern is as unique as a human fingerprint and, after its journey around the world, is ready for new adventures – in your kitchen.
